We support the building decarbonisation

We support a pathway to decarbonise the building environment in Poland, leading to climate neutrality. 10 European green building councils, including PLGBC will develop an action plan to decarbonise the built environment throughout the life cycle of buildings.

The Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC), in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has prepared a report entitled Zero Carbon Footprint. A roadmap for decarbonisation of the construction industry by 2050. The publication indicates a path towards achieving climate neutrality for Polish buildings and the construction sector. PLGBC is currently campaigning in support of the construction decarbonisation pathway to engage policy makers and industry leaders.

Challenges
The report provides a roadmap to help illustrate the complex challenge Poland faces to decarbonise the construction sector by 2050.
At the same time, it is a call for concrete actions within a specific timeframe.

Campaign to support the decarbonisation pathway
Polish Green Building Council PLGBC is running a campaign under the #BuidingLife project to engage policy makers and industry leaders in support of the fight against climate change. The path towards climate neutrality has already been endorsed by 55 companies and organisations. More are steadily joining.
Ambassadors invited by the PLGBC have also given their support to the decarbonisation of the construction industry. Through joint efforts, it is possible to influence changes in the built environment based on the entire life cycle of products.

#BuildingLife
The World Green Building Council launched the #BuildingLife project in December 2020 to support the implementation of the European Green Deal. 10 European green building councils, including the Polish Green Building Council PLGBC, will develop an action plan to decarbonise the built environment across the entire building lifecycle.
The project will contribute to a radical change in climate action in the built environment.

Individual green building councils will develop a package of national decarbonisation roadmaps. In turn, the WorldGBC will bring together representatives from across the sector in a European leadership forum to develop a roadmap for European Union policy on decarbonising the sector.
The project has involved green building councils from Poland (PLGBC), Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK.

The #BuildingLife project is supported by partners focused on building a more sustainable environment: IKEA Foundation and Laudes Foundation.
