The impact of 4Nature System systems with live plants on office workers

Plants in the close environment have a positive impact on human health and well-being. They optimize the microclimate in the interior, improve the perception of space, reduce stress levels and increase creativity. We decided to check it by analyzing the effect of vegetation in the form of our vertical gardens office users.

Study of the influence of nature on the comfort of office workers was carried out between October 2018 and February 2019 in cooperation with the Polish Association Ecological Construction and the Silesian University of Technology. We spent three months looking at companies located in Katowice and Warsaw class A, A+, A++buildings equipped withHVACsystems.

For 12 weeks, the impact of 4Nature System plant systems was analyzed in 10 large companies. We focused on the impact of living vegetation on internal environment and on the needs and feelings of employees - people who constantly stay in the office space.

We took advantage of it 34 mobile, free-standing walls with live greenery 4Nature Basic (1,500 plants in total). The following report presents interesting results from this research: they confirmed the positive impact of our vertical gardens on the comfort and quality of the working environment. Employees of green offices were much more likely to show this positive moods and better focus on work.

Technology used

To create test green walls, the 4Nature System technology was used, which consists of plastic modules recycled plastic with an automatic irrigation system.

Plant species that are easy to grow and have positive properties for the indoor environment were used for the test walls: moisturizing properties, cleansing, regulating air temperature. These include, among others: Epipremnum aureum n'joy, Chlorophytum comosum, Epipremnum aureum and Philodendron scandens.

Three stages of research

The study consisted of 3 stages and 4 anonymous surveys completed via an electronic form:


1 2 weeks before introducing vegetation
2 2 and 6 weeks after the introduction of vegetation
3 2 weeks after taking the plants

Level of employee satisfaction

The aim of the surveys was to check employees' satisfaction with 10 aspects related to work in the office depending on the presence or absence of plants in their immediate surroundings surroundings.

Appropriate air humidity level affects the comfort of staying indoors.This is especially important for offices, where Dry air and air conditioning are the bane of people working there.We decided to check if Vegetation can help employers provide an adequate level of hydration air. On the other hand, we wanted to investigate whether it really this is important for employees.

On our order, the Silesian University of Technology team conducted survey on changes in the levels of well -being of users of office rooms in depending on the humidity of the internal environment.Research lasted 30 weeks and was carried out in five A, A+ and A ++ office buildings located in Warsaw.

Measuring conditions using air moisturizing systems were highly accepted by respondents in terms of thermal feelings (93%). Plants change the perception of space and interior by man

Installation of vertical gardens resulted in increasing the satisfaction of the examined people from the number of plants in the studied space from 54% to 94%. The impact of vegetation on air moisturizing


Air moisturizing is an important and expensive aspect of the functioning of modern offices.Building managers or employers often maintain a minimum level humidity on the border 30% due to the savings of the costs associated with this process. And if the plants could help in this aspect?A team on our behalf The Silesian University of Technology was conducted by a study of selected plant species in terms of their air moisturizing capabilities. We examined 5 plant species: Philodendron Scandens, Chlorophytum Comosum, Epipremnum Aureum, Aglaonema 'Silver Queen', Schefler Arboricola (100 pieces in total).

It turned out that thanks to our plant furniture systems 4NATURE SMART GREEN we can achieve specific parameters air humidity. Together with the Silesian University of Technology, we created a calculator, thanks to which we can calculate the exact amount of plants needed in a given space to increase the humidity by a specific %value.
